In a move that will frustrate football fans across the nation, the Premier League has won an anti-piracy court order.

So watching your five-match accumulator fail dismally just got a whole lot harder.

This order bans the sale of Kodi boxes and pre-loaded IPTV devices. These work by using software to bring a variety of content to an easy-to-use application.

They were developed for freely available content on the internet, but with third-party add-ons, it can be modified to access to illegally streamed content.

This court order is similar to one passed for the last two months of the 2016/17 Premier League season, which saw 5,000 IP addresses that had been streaming Premier League content blocked.

As we know Sky and BT Sport hold the rights to the live coverage, paying £5.136 billion for three seasons of action.

Kevin Plumb, Premier League Director of Legal Services, said: "The protection of our copyright, and the investment made by our broadcast partners, is hugely important to the Premier League and the future health of English football.”

In a recent survey by the BBC, it was found that one in five streams illegally once a week, with many citing the reason for streaming being that sports packages were not good value for money.
